NCK Executive Board Honors Professor Cerio

On Saturday, February 3, 2007, the Professor William K.S. 'Thuderbolt' Chow Memorial took place in San Francisco, California at the wonderful Sheraton Gateway Hotel.  The Professor Chow Memorial brought together five major offshoots of Professor Chow's teachings along with the teachings of Great Grandmaster James Mitose.  Nick Cerio's Kenpo was invited to participate at the Memorial along with Kosho-Ryu Kenpo, Go Shin Jitsu Kenpo/Chinese Kempo Kai, Kajukenbo, American Kenpo, and Shaolin Kenpo.  Representing Professor Nick Cerio and Nick Cerio's Kenpo were Executive Board Members: Clermont Poulin, Craig Seavey, John James, and Maryann Weeden.  The other systems were represented by the following Founders/Successor/Representatives:

Kosho Ryu Kenpo: Grandmaster Thomas Barro Mitose, 22nd Generation Descendent
Go Shin Jitsu Kenpo/Chinese Kempo: Master Bill Chun, Jr., Successor
representing founder, Grandmaster Bill Chun, Sr.
Kajukenbo: Grandmasters Emil Bautista and Joe Davis representing Sijo Adriano Emperado
American Kenpo: American Kenpo Ambassador Ed Parker, Jr.
Shaolin Kenpo: Great Grandmaster Ralph Castro founder, Grandmaster Rob Castro, successor

The day was marked by day-long Seminars taught by all of the representatives and their respective styles.  The Celebration Banquet was punctuated by Recognition Awards given out to all of the represented Styles.  The NCK Executive board humbly and proudly accepted the Plaque on behalf of Professor Nick Cerio.  A special tribute and Plaque was also given to honor the memory of Great Grandmaster James Mitose, Kenpo/Kempo's founder.  The evening ended with the dedication of a sculpted one-of-a-kind Plaque to honor Professor Chow.  All of the systems founders' and representatives' names, who participated at the Memorial, were included on the Plaque as a special 'Thank You' by the Memorial's sponsor and host, Master Bill Chun, Jr.  It was truly a moving experience to be part of an event honoring one of Kenpo/Kempo history's most important figures.  Nick Cerio's Kenpo and the NCK Executive Board wishes to thank Master Bill Chun, Jr. for inviting us and giving us the opportunity to pay our respect to Professor Cerio publicly.  It was an honor and a privilege.
